| The 'Church In A Spiritual Age' initiative is a project of the Churches Together in England 'Group for Evangelisation'. This Group brings together the national evangelism officers of the major churches and home mission agencies.
The current Executive Secretary is Captain Jim Currin of the Church Army, who followed the founder and co-ordinator of the project, the Reverend Roger Whitehead, in September 2005.
A major aspect of the project has been a tour to 16 venues in the Autumn of 2005 called 'Equipping your Church in a Spiritual Age'. The main presentations were made by Rev Yvonne Richmond, Chaplain for Evangelism at Coventry Cathedral, and Rev Steve Hollinghurst, Researcher in Evangelism to Post-Christian Culture at the Church Army Sheffield Centre.
Their material is based on the three books related to the project:
- Beyond the Fringe, researching the beliefs of a sample of people in Coventry;
- Evangelism in a Spiritual Age, looking at theological aspects of the subject from various contributors
- Equipping your Church in a Spiritual Age which offers the practical 'how to' workbook material for anyone wanting to engage with the subject.
The aim of this website is to follow up the tour and book Equipping your Church in a Spiritual Age. The website is a work in progress - with special thanks to Tina Adams for putting it all together. A wide variety of contributors have provided articles on different aspects of the book and details are given for you to contact them direct to find out more.
To build on that, you are also invited to submit your own relevant material to be considered for inclusion on the site. We hope that the site continues to grow and help the wider church engage with others in the name of Jesus. |
